It was only after their breakup in 1998 that I learned to appreciate Dead Can Dance, so I thought my changes of ever seeing Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard perform live were slim at least. But as it turns out, I did.

On the 12th of march 2005 they played the Congres Centrum (NCC), PWA Zaal in the Hague. I cried my way through the show, as many :-) Funniest thing listening to all these sobbing people around you during the deep silences in between songs.

The long almost sacred silences in between songs...

After three songs Brendan quietly asks "Is there anyone out there" and even then it takes a while before the first person awakes from his trance and says "Yeah" :-)

Among the other musicians was Patrick Cassidy, with whom Lisa Gerrard recorded 'Immortal Memory'. This being only the second concert of the tour of this relatively young ensemble, they did sound a bit rusty at times. The few mistakes clearly upset perfectionist Perry. During 'Black Sun' he even asked the band to start over again, twice (too bad that's not on the cd).

Last point of criticism: They didn't play Cantara. They played quite a few new songs though, and all in all this was the best concert I have ever been to, seriously. Enchanting...

Thanks, Larsologie!
THANKS for Sharing this 'looking-forward' to it!! but I AM a-little "Confused" is this an "Official" Live Cd release or ...??
For the 2005 tour most concerts were recorded, and released as 'The Show' or 'Own The Night'. At the entrance of the concert we were given pamphlets promoting a website, on which you could order a limited edition cd of that night's performance. I think there are still some cd available of the North American tour http://www.dcddiscs.com/
So, it's an official cd, I guess, sort of. ;-)
